HouzzLast week Houzz.com published a report on the 2019 Houzz & Home study. Key findings included the fact that spending and use of professionals in home remodeling have remained steady over the previous year.

Of special interest to landscape professionals is the finding that 87% of those homeowners who chose to renovate their home hired a professional to help them.

Fifty percent of renovating homeowners reported making outdoor upgrades as well. “Outdoor security is having a major moment,” the report reads, “with nearly 50% growth year over year (increasing from 9% in 2017 to 12% in 2018).” Security cameras were the most popular purchases for outdoors, followed by light fixtures.

Beds and borders topped the list of most frequent landscape upgrades performed, followed by outdoor lighting. Lawns and fencing were third and fourth in frequency.
