CEO update: COVID, ProGreen, safety Email
Thursday, November 05, 2020 04:00 PM

Good afternoon,

ALCC is watching closely as Colorado’s COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations rise. We will keep you apprised of any changes or restrictions that may affect your landscape company. Remember that as regulations and safety protocols change, it is important that we follow the rules as an industry and show that we are doing everything for safe practices.

We hope that you and your loved ones remain healthy and that your businesses continue to serve clients while adhering to updated 2020 safety protocols.

It has been a year of challenges, but I have been reassured by the resilience and perseverance of our industry. We have been fortunate to be able to continue working, unlike those in other industries, and for that we are grateful. Outdoor space is still of paramount importance to Coloradans. As stewards of the built environment, our work is as vital as ever.

The entrepreneurial spirit of the landscape industry is alive and well here in Colorado. We have seen members innovate and create positive changes that will live on well beyond 2020. We have identified opportunities to attract new market segments to the industry, retrain those who looking for a new career, and create new revenue streams in response to changes in the business environment. We understand that workforce availability remains the number one issue facing our members.

Here at ALCC, we continue to work with our lobbyists to support landscape companies, especially with regards to COVID guidelines and being deemed essential services, and we’ve made significant modifications to the way we conduct business. We have pivoted to offer virtual classes and meetings, including Sustainable Landscape Management Colorado and business webinars.

You may have already seen on the ProGreen EXPO website or been contacted by Kinsley Meetings about the 2021 ProGreen Experience. Due to COVID restrictions, we have modified the event and will present an experience that brings together sponsors and the educational component of the show. The staff of ProGreen have worked long and hard to develop a virtual experience celebrating the people and the education that keep you coming back each year.

After nearly nine months of seeing others move to virtual events, we are fortunate to have been able to observe best practices established by our green industry peers. The ProGreen team will draw on those experiences as we present a reimagined ProGreen February 22-25, 2021.

We are excited about this new experience. ProGreen is the one time of year that all of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region come together as a community. Regardless of whether we meet in person physically, it is more important than ever to show that we are in this together and to continue our education. The virtual location may even allow more industry members to attend now that it can be done from anywhere.

As always, we appreciate your membership and will continue to do our best to ensure that the landscape industry can operate and thrive in this ever-changing environment.

Warm Regards,

John
