What motivates consumers when shopping for landscape services? Lawn & Landscape asked homeowners in a recent survey. The results, available in their Grow the Market report, demonstrate that the importance of and desire for professional landscape and lawn care services has grown in the last five years.

The survey, previously conducted in 2016, found that over the last five years consumer interest in improving their outdoor spaces has grown. The top responses in many categories increased since the last study. For example, 40% of this year’s respondents were planning a hardscape project, compared to 25% in 2016. Other interesting findings:

  • More than half of those surveyed felt that it was just as important that their outdoor space be enjoyable as their indoor space should be.
  • Three-quarters of them believe that landscaping increases the value of their home.
  • 92% recognized that a landscape contractor has the knowledge necessary to keep their lawn looking good.
  • 83% agreed that their “contractor gets better results than I/we ever could”
