Urge your elected officials to send a message to DHS: We need more H-2B visas now!
The FY19 Omnibus passed by Congress and signed into law two weeks ago includes a provision that provides the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) the authority to release an additional 69,320 H-2B visas if and when the Department of Labor (DOL) certifies the need for foreign workers.

Colorado HB19-1050, Encourage Use of Xeriscape In Common Areas, has been approved by the House and moved on to the state Senate. The bill would make it easier for homeowners’ associations (HOAs) to amend bylaws and use drought-tolerant landscaping.
The bill promotes Xeriscape and other water-efficient landscaping on properties governed by HOAs, including common areas. It deems that any bans or restrictions on drought-tolerant plants and practices is unenforceable. It also extends water conservation requirements to special districts.

At the Welby trials this summer, Welby Gardens celebrated 70 years of growing flowers in Colorado and gave over 400 industry people a chance to vote for their favorites from over 1,100 new varieties. Just as landscape companies struggle to build boots-on-the-ground workforce, the equipment support side of the industry is in similar need. People who work behind the scenes servicing and repairing equipment literally keep the industry rolling and without enough skilled technicians, landscape jobs could come to a screeching halt.

The City of Greeley Water Conservation Program continues its support of local landscapers in obtaining professional certification.
Any owners or employees of landscape and irrigation companies who install or maintain properties in Greeley and who take the Landscape Industry Certified Technician (CLT-I) exams in Irrigation for the first time can receive a rebate from the City of Greeley.
