Colorado Business Economic Outlook

There is not much relief in sight for the Colorado skilled labor shortage, according to the recently released Colorado Business Economic Outlook for 2019. The report, sponsored by University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, reports what the landscape industry has seen for some time: employment opportunities abound, but as baby boomer retire there remains a shortage of younger people entering the workforce to replace them. Economic growth is expected to slow slightly as a result.

Living Coral is Pantone's Color of the Year for 2019 Email

The Pantone Color InstituteTM has chosen PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral as its Color of the Year for 2019. The color has already begun popping up in wedding guides and interior design ideabooks. Landscape professionals with trend-watching clients may notice an increase in requests to incorporate this pink/orange hue into their designs.

H-2B reform efforts continue

Please see the letter that was just sent to Congressional leaders asking that the Tillis/Harris H-2B proposal be included in the final fiscal year 2019 spending bill. Thanks to everyone who signed the letter. Special thanks to Coloradans for engaging with this issue and contacting legislators. Colorado had approximately 80 companies and associations sign onto this letter--by far the highest amount of support in the country. 

Please also continue to reach out to your Representative and two Senators and encourage them to speak personally to their party leaders about the urgent need to include the Tills/Harris H-2B package in the final FY 2019 spending bill.
